個人簡介

林間,國際著名海洋地球物理學家,歐洲科學院院士(Member of European Academy of Sciences), 歐洲人文和自然科學院院士(Member of Academia Europaea), 俄羅斯自然科學院院士(Member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences),對海洋地球科學與地震學作出卓越貢獻。引領國際大洋合作,其原創性、系統性的發現奠定了學界對全球大洋中脊三維結構的認識基礎。領導穿越全球海洋最深處—馬里亞納海溝挑戰者深淵首次高精度地震實驗,揭示了“地球第四極”下的內部結構。在大地震之間應力相互作用與地震觸發研究領域作出開創性貢獻,其一地震學成果,十年引用率全球第一。共同領導南海國際大洋鉆探、深拖地磁與大地電磁等實驗,成果入選2019年度中國十大海洋科技進展、2020年廣東省自然科學一等獎、2021年度海洋科學技術獎特等獎(第一完成人)等。共同領導首次發現西南印度洋深海熱液噴口、實施首次北印度洋中巴聯合考察等。當選美國地球物理聯合會(AGU)會士、美國科學促進會(AAAS)會士、美國地質學會(GSA)會士、亨利-比奇洛杰出海洋學家講座教授等。歷任美國伍茲霍爾海洋研究所高級研究員、麻省理工學院/伍茲霍爾海洋研究所教授、中國科學院南海海洋所特聘研究員等。任國際大洋組織InterRidge主席、美國科學院海嘯委員會、國家基金委雙清論壇主席、基金委重大研究計劃集成組長、指導委員會等。
