Associate Professor

In August 2010, Prof. Fred Han joined the School of Design of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and appointed as an associate professor in July 2016. Prior to his move to academia, he practiced over two decades as an Industrial Designer in industry sectors including Automotive, Electronics and Technology with a range of globally renowned organizations. These include General Motors and Ford Motor Company in the US, and Philips Design (HK), TCL (Shenzhen) and Tonly Electronics in China.

 

Research Area

His research interests include User-Experience focused design strategy, assistive technology and healthcare devices for aging population.

  1. Adjustable hydrotherapy wet vest development for patients with neuromuscular disease and other disabilities

  2. Design of Thermal Comfort Breast Prosthesis for Post-Breast Cancer Surgery Patients

  3. Assistive Hydrotherapy Device for Parkinsonian Patients’ Rehabilitation Exercise
