Dr Jianfei Chen is currently a Chair Professor at the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China. Dr Chen obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, UK in 1996. Dr Chen has research interests in the behavior of granular solids, advanced construction materials such as ultra-high performance concrete and geopolymer concrete, and broad areas in structural engineering in particular the use of FRP in civil engineering. He has authored or co-authored over 300 publications. His work has been widely cited. According to an Elsevier research conducted for use for Academic Ranking of World Universities, he was one of the 150 Most Cited Researchers worldwide in Civil Engineering in 2016.
